Alice's slight crochet poncho

Hello, dears! I'm the proud mother of a new crocheter and very happy to show you the first crochet project made by my daughter: this granny squares poncho!!

¡Hola a todas! Soy la orgullosa madre de una nueva ganchillera y estoy muy feliz de mostraros el primer proyecto de ganchillo de mi hija: este poncho de granny squares!!

Siempre pensé que a mi hija el ganchillo no le interesaba para nada y ¡cuál no sería mi sorpresa cuando me pidió que le dejara lana para hacerse un poncho! Así, tal cual... Cuando era pequeña le hice un poncho de granny squares que le encantaba ponerse y que ya no le sirve. Y quería hacer uno igual, pero eligiendo esta vez los colores a su gusto.

I always thought my daughter had not interested in crocheting at all and I was delightfully surprised when she told me she wished to do a crochet poncho by herself! Yes, just like you hear it!! I made a granny squares poncho for her when she was a child which she loved to wear it. And now, she wished to make one like that by her own and choose colors of her liking.

Tan sólo le enseñe a hacer el primer granny square... y a partir de ahí siguió ella sola con una facilidad, rapidez y determinación asombrosas...

¡Y aquí veis cómo le ha quedado!

I just taught her how to make the first square granny ... and from there she continued crocheting on her own with ease, speed and determination... Amazing!

And here you can see her finished project!

Eligió estos cuatro colores de lana Mondial-Ami que combinó de dos maneras diferentes e hizo un total de 36 granny squares de 5 vueltas trabajando con aguja de 3 mm. Os pongo también el gráfico a continuación.

These are the Mondial-Ami four colors yarn she chose to make a total of 36 5-rounds granny squares combined in two different ways and worked with hook 3 mm. See chart below.

Para unir los granny squares usó el Flat Braid Join Method que encontraréis muy bien explicado aquí. Y como no deseaba ponerle flecos o borlas al poncho, lo terminó con un borde de 4 vueltas de punto bajo y cadenetas.

I also taught her the Flat Braid Join Method to join granny squares. You will find a very well explained tutorial here. She didn't wish to add fringes or tassels to the poncho and decided to finish it with a border of 4 rows of single crochet and chains.

Ahora está pasando unos días con su abuela en Inglaterra y me acaba de enviar esta foto luciendo orgullosa su poncho.

She is now spending some days with her grandmother in Great Britain and just send me this photo.

Y yo estoy, más que orgullosa, feliz por poder pasar el testigo a la siguiente generación :-) Ha aprendido a una velocidad asombrosamente rápida y ha disfrutado del proceso... no será lo último que haga :-)

And I'm more than proud, happy to pass the torch to the next generation :-) She has learnt surprisingly very fast and has enjoyed the process ... It will not be her last crochet project :-)
